Prelimlinary Round Guidelines

1. Speech

  • The preliminary round will be open through an online platform due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and all students will be evaluated both Script and Voice Record File.
  • For the Speech contest, domestics and foreigners will be distinguished in accordance with the GLEC Qualifications (click). Make sure you have marked your participating field (Domestic/International) upon your nationality. You should participate as an International if you do not hold an Indonesian nationality.
  • All participants for the Speech sector should record the Voice Record File themselves, and the script should follow the time limit (Elementary School Track: 3 min, Middle School/High School Track: 4 min, University Track: 5 min). The final round proceeds with the identical contents from the preliminary round, and you should memorize your script beforehand.

Speech File Submission
File Submission Period
  • 15 November 2021 - 17 December 2021 18:00 IST (Additional submission is not accepted after the deadline.)
Requirements
  • Full script file (Talking points or summary is NOT allowed.) 
  • Voice record file (in MP3, WAV, or M4A Format / You must record the same contents with the script within the time limit.)
  • Student nominees are waived to submit voice record files and essays but still MUST log in to the platform and provide consent to the GLEC Rules and Conditions.
Time Limit
  • Elementary School Track (Grade 4-5): 3 minutes
  • Middle School Track (Grade 6-8): 4 minutes
  • High School Track (Grade 9-12): 4 minutes
  • University Track: 5 minutes

※ Only topic-relevant content will be evaluated.

※ Only a slight excess or shortfall from the time limit (10~15 sec) will not affect your score. Further excess or deficit will negatively affect your score.

Detail
  • Multi-stage examination and evaluation will proceed for all files submitted through the GLEC online platform.
  • Any difference in the contents and sentence structures between the script and audio record file is not allowed. Please be sure to record the same contents.
  • Preliminary Round Result Announcement: Participants who can advance to the final round will be announced through the website after 30 December 2021.
  • Final Round Registration Period: 30 December 2021 - 7 January 2022
  • There is no change to the topics in the final round, and it proceeds with the identical contents from the preliminary round. All applicants should memorize the script and make a speech.
  • Final round will be held based on the online on-the-spot examination via an online video conference platform (ZOOM).

2. Essay

  • The preliminary round will be open online due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and all students will be evaluated by the Essay submitted through the GLEC online platform.
  • For the Essay contest, domestics and foreigners will NOT be distinguished and evaluated under the same scoring criteria.
  • Topics for the final round will be newly presented on the date of the Final Round, distinguished according to the track. All students are recommended overall study beforehand.

Word Limit
  • 500-700 words

Only a slight excess or shortfall from the word limit (15~20 words) will not affect your score. Further excess or deficit will negatively affect your score.
